INEC denies link with fake Facebook account

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday denied having any link with a Facebook account for Permanent Voter Card’s registration.

The commission made the denial in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, describing the Facebook account as fake.

Oyekanmi urged the public to disregard the fake Facebook account as the commission was yet to commence an online registration for PVCs.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that it is not in any way associated with a Facebook page called “INEC Nigeria Online,” with the Uniform Resource Locatorhttps://web.facebook.com/INEC-Nigeria-Online-1211567328987773/.

“Some unknown persons opened this Facebook platform with all intents and purposes to lure unsuspecting Nigerians into believing that they can apply online for the Permanent Voter Card.

“The Commission hereby reiterates that it has not begun online registration of Nigerians for the purpose of obtaining the PVC, neither has it authorized any organization, group or individual to do so,” Oyekanmi said
