KDubb’s confidence astounded our editor who had a social media chat with him. His cockiness is truly a right ingredient for excelling in the Nigerian music industry. It reminded us on self acclaimed “Best Rapper in Africa” – Blaqbonez
But beyond his confidence, KDubb is very great at his art. Sometime in January, this year, he had contacted us to check out his music. In his message, he indicated outright that he is in the vanguard of establishing the new sound – Trap Music in Nigeria. That confidence was what pushed us to give him a listening ear.
He told us that he wouldn’t mind having an interview with us. We replied him that he should give us some time, let’s check out his works first before we talk about an interview. We therefore asked him to send his works across.
Boy, we were truly amazed at the level this guy had already gone. We discovered that his confidence wasn’t just another empty rant, but that this youngster was really up to something big.
During the interview, he said something that struck. “What is Nasty C doing that I’m not doing? But sadly, our people prefer to give outsiders listening ears instead of their own”.
Our interview with KDubb wasn’t just an exciting one, it was largely enlightening, bringing us to truly see the pains of a talented young person who hasn’t been offered the opportunity to shine his light to the world.
KDubb resides at FESTAC town, Lagos State. He initially used to call himself “The New Voice of FESTAC”, until he realized that, that was too limiting. He then re-christened himself, “Nigeria’s King of Trap”.
